Job Overview

The Retail Regional Manager is responsible for all convenience store operations and the success of the convenience retail division. The Retail General Manager is a vital member of our organization playing an essential role in the growth, success, and efficiencies. The self-motivated, service-orientated individual will be accountable for demonstrating Northdale’s culture of a passion for winning, forward-thinking, and a boldly optimistic attitude.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with Retail Operations Manager and leadership team to analyze, develop, and implement strategic plans to meet financial targets.

  • Hire, develop, mentor, and evaluate management talent while communicating business goals.

  • Provides leadership to specified region, overseeing day-to-day retail activities and store operations.

  • Serves as initial point of contact to store manager, including issues arising in Human Resources, store operations, recruiting, etc. in specified region.

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing the best store team to drive performance and customer and employee experience.

  • Reviews and analyzes regional sales and operations.

  • Ensure and guide manager’s operations by managing inventory counts, food concept program guidelines, labor controls, cash controls, drive off control, etc.

  • Utilize various methods and reporting tools to achieve financial goals (profit margin, daily sale reports, food costing, waste management, labor percentages, conversion factors, cost tools, over/short reports, drive off reports, customer feedback, employee feedback, etc.)

  • Monitor and manage labor costs, including overseeing schedules, overtime, and total labor hours.

  • Support managers, team, and store operations by leading associate training and onboarding, customer service and food presentation, running cash register or deli operations, when needed.

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

  • Implement and ensure compliance with company programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with state and local compliance in all aspects of the retail division including Weights & Measures, Food Inspector, Tobacco License, and several others.

  • Communicate with vendors.

  • Maintain and ensure company brand image and standards are being met, including consistency of customer experience and store cleanliness.

  • Implements marketing programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products.

  • Identify and seek opportunities for improvements in the specified region; designs and implements training, strategies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale.

  • Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.

  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance, conduct, judgment, and customer service.

  • Play an active role during the pre- and post- opening of new stores in specified regions.

  • Manage controllable costs and expenses.

  • Service and maintain equipment and coordinate with service companies, if necessary.

  • Special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 4+ years of retail management preferred.

  • Specific skills:

    • Communication skills both orally and written.

    • Advanced understanding of convenience store operations.

    • Ability to coach, train and motivate employees.

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to problem solve and multi-task with a proactive nature.

    • Strong work ethic and desire to grow and develop.
